Dondo Mogajane

Mr. Mogajane, known as Dondo, showed his potential, and leadership credentials from an early age. Even before he entered the formal job market, Dondo was a student leader at High School, and at the University of Durban Westville, where he earned a B Admin degree and an Honours Degree in Public Management in 1991. While working as a permanent employee of the university, serving various roles, he also went on to complete an Honours degree in Industrial Relations.

Dondo has extensive experience working in a multitude of roles, namely Deputy Director of the Department of Finance (now known as the National Treasury), Deputy Director of Finance Operations & HR Management of the Environmental and Development Agency, and Director of the National Treasury. In his 21 years at the National Treasury, he worked in various capacities, including Chief Director, Senior Advisor to the World Bank in Washington, Chief of Staff, and Head of Ministry.
In 2014, Dondo completed a Master’s Degree in Public Management from the University of Maryland. After this, he was appointed as the Acting Chief Operations Officer of the National Treasury, and then as Deputy Director-General in 2015. He was appointed acting Director General for a period of 5 years after that.

Dondo chose not to extend his contract in the South African public service and instead joined the Moti Group as its Chief Executive Officer. In addition to his duties as CEO, Dondo is also serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the New Development Bank (BRICS Bank) and; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Government Employees Pension Fund.
